WHO promotes exercise to prevent dementia, hormones and pills do not help

The World Health Organization has made new recommendations for preventing dementia. According to the organization, sufficient physical activity can reduce the risk of developing dementia. This is stated in a recent advice published by the WHO.

The guidelines show that there is no evidence that hormone therapy or taking vitamin supplements prevents dementia. The use of such remedies is therefore not recommended as a preventive measure. The WHO emphasizes that there is still insufficient data on other possible risk factors to give clear advice.

The organization focuses in its advice mainly on factors that have a proven effect. For dementia prevention, this comes down to promoting an active lifestyle. Other lifestyle advice, such as diet or social activities, are still being investigated according to the WHO.

This report is a summary based on the mentioned source and is not medical advice. Always consult a doctor or pharmacist in case of complaints.
